NEC ISE 2016

m box Bewegtbild GmbH created a synchroniczed media production spanning more than 50 displays and projectors.

The “curve” key visual animated by m box became the central leitmotif of the NEC trade fair presence designed by D’art Design for ISE 2016. Across five chapters, the production introduces the topics share, present, analyse, review and control via individually designed, dynamic curves and animated key images.

As a special highlight, the spatial interplay across several display walls, projectors and LED panels in the “black show” area wowed the crowds while the overall theme continued across further high-definition screens on the stand’s exterior.

Audi Matrixclub

m box made use of elaborate, extensive projection mapping to transform the glass dome (approx. 12 metres wide) of the completely redesigned former Postbank HQ into a generative and sound-reactive, central and spatial sculpture of light.

Not far from the IAA trade fair halls, Audi hosted an event at a special location: the Matrix Club, renowned for its changing roster of public and in-house club nights featuring popular DJs. Each night, visual modules were generated in real-time and staged live and in synch with the DJ’s performance. m box not only created all of these generative modules, but also took care of the technology behind the scenes via m-wall media servers and on-site coordination.

»A Company« Production Logo

A Company is one of the leading film licensing companies and content providers for Central and Eastern Europe, the CIS and Vietnam. They addressed Mbox to realize a new production logo to be shown at the beginning of the movies they produce. The task was straightforward and clear, but also gave space to our own creative decisions.

A COMPANY’s comprehensive portfolio contains some of the best and most successful independent and studio productions of the last 10 years: Oscar-winning titles such as THE KING’S SPEECH, HURT LOCKER and THE READER; alongside commercial highlights as CLOUD ATLAS, SHUTTER ISLAND and the SAW franchise.

www.a-company-film.com

Since A Company’s logo looks like a gear, we wanted it to rotate, in a smoky dark space with shimmering lights. During the first third of the clip, the viewer has a very close view of the object, made of abstract surfaces, lights and reflections, and the logo is eventually revealed. To carefully utilize the very short time frame of the clip—it consists of approximately 15 seconds of animation—was a big challenge, as well as to create a strong dramaturgy while maintaining a slow and sublime animation tempo. It was also rather demanding to give the logo a specific weight and inertia through animation and to create a believable and intense atmosphere.

Fresenius Centennial Gala

On the occasion of its centennial anniversary, global health care corporation Fresenius invited 1200 selected guests to an exclusive gala celebration at the Festhalle in Frankfurt am Main, Germany. The set up of the mediatecture was designed as a 160 meters long circular screen, providing the architectural framework for the event and the canvas for the 360 degree projection of the main show. m box created all visual media content for the event under the creative lead of Elsa Wormeck. The project was commissioned by Berlin based CB.e agency for communication.

The highlight of the show was a 7 minutes long intro film, which invited the guests on an abstract journey to explore the historic evolution of modern day medicine, closely interwoven with milestones of the company history of Fresenius. For this special occasion, Enis Rotthoff composed a symphonic soundtrack which he recorded with the Babelsberg Symphonic Orchestra, who also supported the event by their live performance. The sound was enhanced by implementing the wave field synthesis system for a true 360 degree sound experience.

Besides the filmic highlights of the show, m box Bewegtbild GmbH also created a real-time generative content in the form of a variation of animated ambient structures, as well as an interactive application for previewing content in a virtual architectural environment (see My Role).

Forss — Ecclesia iPad App

Ecclesia is the latest release of critically-acclaimed electronic musician (and SoundCloud CTO) Eric Wahlforss aka Forss. In collaboration with untouch.fm and austrian designer Leonhard Lass (part of depart.at) this audio-visual album was created.

The Ecclesia App combines the intriguing aspects of audio-reactive visual content and a strong atmospheric audio release within an emotional application. The deep and voluminous sound is visually transformed into an abstract meta-structure that might resemble an actual building / sculpture vaguely familiar and yet mystically strange. The idea of a cathedral as a physical architectural body is fragmented and invites the user to step inside and to explore the structure.

untouch.fm

On May 2nd there was a big release party at the prestigious Berghain Club in Berlin, with live visuals presented on a custom-made altar-like projection surface, sounding super-crisp on their famous Funktion-One sound system.

Most of the application is purely generative (except for certain preexisting elements like some geometric models and basic timing). The visualization is generated based on audio analysis, MIDI-events, randomness and user interaction.

SOLON World

A cinematic and interactive visualisation of the entire product range for SOLON, the innovative manufacturer of solar modules. A specially designed and bespoke SOLON World shows the many possibilities that are afforded by photovoltaic plants and gives a complete overview of the entire product range.

The particular challenge was the client’s wish for us to show the complex animations in variety of different presentation settings. m box is responsible for the concept, design, and production of these films, as well as for the interactive presentation for the Internet and for trade shows, and also for the custom iPad application created for the client. Additionally, an interactive presentation application was developed for field of power stations.
